Brother Johns

Gina instructs Julius to drive us through Tiffin (her home town) and then suggests a visit to Brother Johns. She thinks we will be intrigued with his workshop. I will confess right now that I may not be able to adequately describe this place, which I can only say is "beyond whimsical". First of all, we are greeted by honking (and in my opinion, hostile) geese as we pull through the gates and round the corner of a withering garden that has large pink, turquiose and gold crystals reflecting the sun. There is a retro Chevy flatbed in the yard piled with all kinds of discarded electronics, and then we are greeted by Brother John: a good-natured gnomish figure with a full beard holding a beer constantly in a hand that has a stump of a shattered middle finger. He welcomes us into his sanctuary: a workshop that is filled with Catholic artifacts including a full confessional, a kneeling bench, votives, holy wafers, an infinity mirror with Jesus in the center, etc ETC! Out in the yard, there is a deserted telephone booth (complete with telephone and directory), all kinds of birdhouses fashioned from kitchen and bathroom items: ie: toaster, coffeepot, toilet plunger, etc. the list of unusual items goes on and on! He even had a set of orange golf balls for Jon to practice his chipping. Unfortunately you have to wait till I get home to upload any photos....
